QUALITY CORNER

ISO:

BDA has been certified under MS ISO 9001:2000 on 4 April 2004 by SIRIM QAS INTERNATIONAL SDN. BHD.

The scope of registration are as below:

1. Project Development
2. Development Control
3. Rates Collection
4. Licensing
5. Maintenance Services
6. Library Management
7. Zoo And Botanical Gardens Management

Previously, BDA was certified under MS ISO 9002:1994 by MAMPU.

QCC:

Quality Control Circle or QCC is not new in BDA. In the 90’s, a number of groups were formed and completed their projects. BDA’s QCC team even won a gold medal at the national level QCC Convention.

However, after that there was no continuity in effort to maintain the QCC movement until the year of 2001/2002 where BDA decided to revive the QCC movement in BDA.

Up-to-date there are 3 QCC teams in BDA namely Arrows, Enforcer and Q-Saver.

QCC teams

5S:

5S is another important movement in BDA. Having such a big and ‘public attraction’ building like Wisma Bintulu, a housekeeping method like 5S is very important and need to be practised by all staff. In view of this, BDA has decided to go for 5S certification by december 2005. Since BDA is a big organisation, our scope of certification for this time is BDA HQ only. This will later follow by others such as BDA municipal Services, Tumbina or libraries. To achieve our target, 8 5S group has been formed such as Bunga Raya, Bourgenvilla, Matahari, Rafflesia, Mawar, Kasturi, Teratai & Melur.

A number of 5S courses including awareness programmes have been held to expose the staff and the management as well to this Japanese housekeeping method.

We have more activities/programmes in the pipeline to be implemented stage by stage with the guidance and assistance from NPC, Sarawak. In addition, we have organised quite a number of in-house 5S competition such as The Best 5S Corner(won by Rafflesia team), The Best 5S Practise(won by Mawar team), The Best Store(won by Teratai team) and the best Slogan (won by Matahari team).

HARI BERTEMU PELANGGAN (HBP)

Like other government agencies, BDA also hold Hari Bertemu Pelanggan (HBP) once in two (2) months. HBP gives the public opportunities to channel their complaints/dissatisfaction about BDA services directly to the officers on duty.

In order to improve our services from time to time, questionnaires on BDA services also available during HBP for the public to fill-in/write their opinion.

HEALTH PROGRAMME:

‘Healthy mind comes from healthy body’ is what we in BDA believe in and that is how the idea of having health programmes like senamrobik and jungle trekking came in.

We organise senamrobik/jungle trekking once a month on last Friday of the month for BDA staff and other staff from other government agencies in Wisma Bintulu like Land And Survey, NREB, JAS and Accountant Department.

QUALITY TALK:

Quality talk which is held once in two (2) months is meant for BDA staff. The purpose of having this talk is to expose staff with new knowledge/experience and this is a forum where they can exchange knowledge/opinion among each other.

The topics are normally on work ethics, team building, self motivation and others.

Among speakers that we have invited were from ABF, SMDS, BPSB, private consultants and even from BDA itself.

Since there are other government agencies in Wisma Bintulu, we have make a move to invite them to attend this Quality talk lately so that they also get benefit from this talk.
