BASED ON THE STUDY, THE BDA RECOMMENDS THE FOLLOWING INDUSTRIAL AND OTHER PROJECTS FOR IMPLEMENTATION BY INVESTORS. 

In view of its large reserves of natural gas and oil, Bintulu has been selected as one of the locations in the country for petrochemical complexes. Several types of industries have been identified and promoted for establishment in Bintulu by the International Consultant appointed by Federal Government. 

 

PETROCHEMICAL & GAS RELATED

Petrochemical and gas related comprising the followings:

LPG Dehydro/MTBE/PP, Melamine, Methanol, Ammonia/Urea, Oil Refinery, Caprolactam, Compound Fertilizer and Nitric Acid/Ammonium Nitrate.

TIMBER-BASED 

Integrated timber industry comprising the followings; 

Modern Sawmill, Laminated Board, Moulding Plant, Drying Kilns, Veneer/ Plywood. Manufacture Of Prefabricated Housed, Chipboard, Fibreboard, Knock-Down Furniture. Timber Preservation Plants, Panel Product Factories, Joinery Factories, Pulp & Paper Mill, Etc.

PLANTATION & AGRO-BASED 

Large scale cultivation of oil palm, cocoa, rubber and fruit trees, palm kernel milling, processing of cocoa butter and powder, and fruit processing and canning.

ENERGY-INTENSIVE INDUSTRIES 

Basic metals including iron smelting and steel plants.

OTHER INDUSTRIES 

Manufacture of glass sheet, glass containers and building materials like glass mosaic, specialised bricks and roofing tiles, food processing and shipyard industries.
