Bintulu: The booths for the Bintulu trade expo held in conjunction with the 8^th Borneo International Kite Festival (BIKF)here from Sept 26 to 30 were opened for sale yesterday.

Those interested can obtain the necessary forms at the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) Public Affairs Section at Wisma Bintulu here.

Payments can be made via cash or crossed cheque while personal cheques, post dated  cheques and pre-bookings will not be entertained.

The booths are priced between RM1000 to RM2900 and are divided into several categories: booth A(general trading); booth B(island); booth C(food and drinks; booth D(automobile); booth E(Telco) and booth F(nursery).  For more details call 086-332011 or 086-332277.

The kite festival was successfully held for the first time at the old Bintulu Airport in 2005 and in the following years several national record-breaking events have taken place at the festival.

Bintulu was chosen as the venue for the festival as it has an ideal open space as its old airport sites besides being not far from the seaside which provides a perfect wind blowing direction enabling kites to be flown consistently.

Since its inception the festival has become an annual event and has successfully attracted large crowds seeking to witness and participate in the event. It has also attracted kite enthusiasts and experts both local and international to Bintulu.

It is organized by BDA in collaboration with various government agencies to further boost the tourism sector in Bintulu.

At the same times, it provides a great opportunity for local businessmen and traders to sell and promote various products at the trade expo.
