BINTULU: Twelve teams statewide are vying for the 12th BDA General Manager tennis Cup which started yesterday until this Sunday.

The champion will receive RM1,300 cash, a challenge trophy and sports equipment. Second place awards RM1,000, and joint third place winners will receive RM700, with trophies and sports equipment each.

Games coordinator Ahmad Ghazi Arifin was happy the 11-year-old championship met with overwhelming response, in line with its promotion of healthy activities. The 12 teams are BDA Max, MLNG, Bintulu District LTA (BDLTA), Asean Bintulu Fertilizer (ABF), PSKPP, PTBS Kuching, Greensport, Mukah, BDLTA 2, Greensport Junior, PTBS Miri and Kastam Sibu.

“This year the organising committee decided to run the games over four days, as leeway for entries from outstation to enjoy Bintulu,” he said during a welcoming dinner at Goldenbay Hotel here on Wednesday.

The tournament, sponsored by Lea Sports Centre and organised in collaboration with BDLTA is being held at Kidurong Club and BDA sports centre. — by Yunus Yussop
