BINTULU: The Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) has awarded over RM5.8 million worth of contracts covering 38 packages of work to several contractors.

BDA Municipal Services (Perbinda) senior manager Abdul Wahab Hashim said the contracts are for cutting grass; back lane and footpath cleaning; as well as rubbish collection in all areas under the authority’s jurisdiction, excluding Sebauh and Tatau.

“We congratulate all contractors for being chosen and awarded to carry out the works on behalf of BDA.

“We hope all appointed contractors will maintain their good service performance and to carry out quality work because it will also affect BDA’s performance,” he told reporters during a briefing and sites handing over ceremony on Thursday.

He said the works should be implemented smoothly based on the contract specifications agreed upon.

Abdul Wahab said the contract period is from Dec 1, 2017 to Nov 30, 2018.

“The contract works are all the same except to be carried out at various locations in BDA’s area of jurisdiction, including Samalaju area,” he said.

He said most of the appointed contractors have carried out previous contracts, while a few are new.

“As Bintulu grows bigger, more areas will be covered, meaning more contracts will be awarded. The figures and areas keep on expanding depending on the pace of development in Bintulu,” he added.
