BINTULU: Bintulu Development Authority’s (BDA) enforcement team has responded promptly to public complaints by checking on the works of a contractor that left muddy tracks, dirt and dust on the main road near a construction site on Saturday.

Earlier, Bintulu Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said he wanted tougher actions to be taken against the developer and contractor of the project near Eng Kwang Church in Tanjung Batu for making the road dirty.

“This problem will not be solved if no decisive action is taken against those responsible,” said Tiong who had received many complaints from members of the public about the issue.

BDA general manager Rodziah Morshidi said a notice had been issued to the contractor which was handed over to the project supervisor around 1.15pm on Saturday.

Her enforcement team also advised the contractor to be more alert and to focus on their heavy vehicles’ condition before leaving the site.

The contractor, she said, immediately assigned workers to wash the tyres of their vehicles and also to clean up the affected road.

Enforcement action such as seizing vehicles and closing the project’s entrance road will be taken against the contractor if the instructions are not followed.
