BINTULU: Local contractors awarded grass-cutting and drain/culvert de-silting work in Bintulu are reminded to give quality performance in order to be given more contracts in the
future.

Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Datu Mohidin Ishak said contract monitoring would be stricter to ensure all contractors meet the high standard agreed upon.

He said the internal auditor for BDA would monitor the progress of every contract to ensure smooth implementation.

A total of 18 contracts worth RM4.2 million for grass-cutting and drain/culvert de-silting work were signed between BDA and local contractors at Wisma Bintulu yesterday.

According to him, BDA will not compromise on poor performance and that after three notices, contracts will be terminated if the contractor is still unable to complete the grass-cutting.

For drain and culvert de-silting work, a three-month grace period will be given to improve, especially in certain areas.

“Continuously improve your performance, and with good track record, BDA will consider more contracts for you,” he said.

Mohidin said the delay in awarding the contracts was because BDA has amended and improved some work specifications in several areas to ensure the contracts can be completed on schedule.

For grass-cutting, he said the grass will be cut twice a month which is 15 days for first cutting and another 15 days for the second cutting.

“The grass-cutting in specified areas must be completed within 15 days and the contractor will be penalised if they fail to complete the work,” he said.

He said all contractors must carry out their work responsibly.

Before cutting the grass, contractors must remove the rubbish first. Then the grass clippings must be collected which is another improvement in the contract.

“This contract is for 12 months covering Bintulu, Sebauh and Tatau and quality cutting will be emphasised,” he said.

Among the contractors are Umayara General Contractor & Services, Nur Azri General Construction, Shorea Trading and Services, Evergrow Rj General Contractor, Hardihood Sdn Bhd, Sibat Berusaha Enterprise, Kerjaya Bumi, Jriumas Enterprise, Lini Enterprise, My Co Enterprise, Dee Enterprise, Aliza Enterprise, Zaywie General Contractor, Nyawai Berjaya Enterprise, Masyukri Pemborong Bumiputera, Nas Alliance (M) Sdn Bhd, Azam Sebiew Enterprise and Syarikat Othman.
