BINTULU: There is nothing in the world more valuable than good health, said Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Rodziah Morshidi.

“Health is wealth and if we get sick, we can do nothing. What is the point of having money and so on if you are lying on the bed, not doing much in life, and physically fragile,” she said.

Officiating at the launch of Columbia Asia Hospital Bintulu (CAHB) free health screening programme yesterday, Rodziah said: “I always tell my staff in BDA to stop smoking because it is the main cause of other diseases, apart from unhealthy eating habit.

“I’m happy with this kind of programme and hope BDA staff will take advantage of it. Spread the word and come here for free health screening.”

CAHB consultant surgeon (general) Dr Mark Jeevan Erudayam said it was part of their corporate social responsibility to serve the community through health screening from April 10 to July 31.

“We organise this free screening for our corporate clients and locals. We are helping you stay healthy; we want to help everybody avoid diseases,” he added.

Sarawak Energy Occupational Safety and Health Division officer Lawrence Lichit congratulated CAHB for running the programme.

Before the launch, he took on the role of a heart attack victim and managed to convince other
guests that it was for real until they were told it was a drill to show the silent killer at work.

“Our SEB staff go for regular health screening every year. It shows that our health can affect our performance, and the organisation we work for,” he said.
