BINTULU: Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) needs strong support, good collaboration and partnership in transforming and improving the quality of life of the people under its care here.

Its general manager Rodziah Morshidi said developing the infrastructure was easier than changing  the people’s mentality in adapting to new changes, like cleanliness, for example.

“We will be very strict this year. We have been educating and creating awareness campaigns on the importance of cleanliness  among the people here.

“This is the year (2019) to enforce the laws.  We welcome parties and groups wanting to join us (BDA) in making Bintulu cleaner and better,” she said during a Chinese New Year open house at the Spring Bintulu shopping mall.

The event was jointly organised by BDA and Federation of Registered Chinese Association (Forca) Bintulu Division, with the Spring Bintulu as the venue host. This was the fourth year of such collaboration.

“We want to be as inclusive as possible and that is why we roped in Forca. The first edition was held at  Heritage Park, followed by Paragon street mall, Commerce Square Mall, and this year at the Spring Bintulu,” Rodziah said.

Assistant Minister of Native Laws and Customs Datuk John Sikie and wife Datin Melia Gelen, BDA deputy chairman Haidar Khan Asghar Khan, Forca Bintulu president Hii Toh Him, Bintulu Resident Jack Aman Luat, Parkcity The Spring Bintulu chairman Troy Yaw and The Spring Management Services director Andy Song were among those present.
